2026 Legislative Session: A Year of Advocacy to Be Proud Of

2026 Legislative Session: A Year of Advocacy to Be Proud Of 2500 1767 Safe Passage for Children of Minnesota

The legislative session wrapped up Sunday night, and while our priority legislation did not make it into the limited final bills of the session, that doesn’t tell the whole story of this year’s impact.

This session, we championed three important initiatives: legislation to educate caregivers on recognizing the signs of abuse, a bill to protect guardian ad litem volunteers and a request for a fiscal analysis of child welfare spending to maximize federal funding opportunities. The work we did to advance these issues laid a foundation we’ll build on for next year.

There still is much to celebrate. We hosted one of the most well-attended legislative breakfasts in 2025 to kick off our advocacy. We testified at multiple committee hearings, putting child safety directly in front of lawmakers, and received bipartisan support for our bills.

Dozens of dedicated volunteers showed up for our Day at the Capitol to advocate for children and meet with their legislators. And we partnered with Never Shake MN to raise public awareness throughout April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month.

We’re already looking ahead to the next session. Mark your calendar: Our 2026 Legislative Breakfast is Tuesday, October 13 at the Minneapolis Club. Ticket details will be released soon!
