Eric Rasmussen

Eric Rasmussen is an investigative reporter for KSTP Eyewitness News. He will be giving us a behind the scenes look at how investigative reporting gets done, including a behind the scenes look at how you find your story, find sources and interview them, and more. Eric has been working a great deal on the investigation into the murder of 8 year old Minnesotan child Autumn Hallow by her father and stepmother.

Eric joined KSTP 5 Eyewitness News in December of 2018. He came to the Twin Cities from Boston. Eric has also worked as an investigative reporter in the San Francisco Bay Area as well as Orlando, Florida. He got his first full time job in TV news in Chico, CA at KHSL.

Some of Eric’s most rewarding stories include a yearlong investigation that found missing foster kids kicked out of child welfare systems while they were still unaccounted for. In 2019, Eric traveled to South Texas and found the original birth records of a Minnesota Marine veteran after his own government challenged his citizenship and rejected his application for a passport. Eric has won multiple regional Murrow and Emmy awards, including “Outstanding Reporter” in the Upper Midwest in 2019 and “Outstanding Investigative Reporter” in New England in 2018.

The webinar allowed ample time for Q&A, it was free, and everyone was invited to participate.
