Dee Wilson

On Wednesday November 2nd, 2022, we hosted this webinar featuring Dee Wilson. Dee Wilson is a former executive at Casey Family Programs in Seattle and an expert in child welfare topics such as chronic child maltreatment and child torture. Dee talked about the tendency of child protection agencies to miss or overlook chronic maltreatment, which is the occurrence of serious abuse and neglect over time, as well as how agencies miss or dismiss known indicators of child torture. Dee worked for 26 years in Washington State’s child welfare system as a CPS caseworker, CPS supervisor, area administrator, regional administrator and training director. From 2005-2009, Wilson was director of a training and research institute at the University of Washington School of Social Work where he did extensive child welfare training and taught in the MSW program. He worked in Casey Family Programs Knowledge Management section from 2010-2015. Since 2016, Dee Wilson has done training on various child welfare subjects, including chronic neglect, critical thinking and preventing burnout and secondary trauma, for child welfare staff Washington.  He is the author of Sounding Board, a commentary on child welfare issues which has been disseminated monthly since 2010. He speaks and writes on a wide range of child welfare and child mental health issues.
