Max Page is an Assistant County Attorney in the Child Protection Division of the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office. He represents the Human Services and Public Health Department in child protection custody proceedings. During the state legislative session Max represents the County Attorney’s Office, including issues related to child protection and foster care.

Max described the role of the state Juvenile Court, which is where custody decisions are made regarding child protection matters. His presentation included the criteria for bringing a Child in Need of Protection and Services (CHIPS) petition, the role of the parties to a case including the County Attorney, guardian ad litem, and county social services department, and the process for deciding whether to keep children with their biological parents, return them from foster care, or terminate parental rights.
