Fourth of July

Fourth of July 2560 1707 Safe Passage for Children of Minnesota

On the eve of this Fourth of July weekend, we invite you to contemplate some positive developments for children…from the recently (nearly) concluded Minnesota state legislative session:

The $120 million pool of early childhood education scholarships will now be allocated on a priority basis to children who are victims of child maltreatment, in foster care or homeless — and, beginning at birth rather than age three.

Thanks to McKenna Ahrenholz and the Children’s Law Center, McKenna’s law was passed, requiring all children 10 and older to be informed of their right to an attorney.

Funding for parenting training for high risk pregnant women will gradually increase by $33 million annually between now and 2021.

Have a wonderful Fourth of July. See you next week!
