At Safe Passage for Children of Minnesota, we believe that the safety and well-being of children should always be the highest priority. That is why we support legislation that puts children first. We also recognize the importance of relying on the expertise of the professionals who work on the front lines of Minnesota’s child protection system to help identify priorities and drive meaningful change.
Safe Passage has been partnering with the MInnesota Coalition for Child Safety since it was formed In 2023. The Coalition is a multidisciplinary group that includes child abuse pediatricians, mental health professionals, law enforcement representatives, guardians ad litem, foster parents and others who have cared directly for children who have been victims of abuse. The coalition meets regularly to discuss child welfare issues, share insights and help determine legislative advocacy efforts.
The coalition’s members bring extensive knowledge and firsthand experience with the child protection system, and we are grateful for their dedication, volunteer service and expertise. Later this summer, the coalition will begin identifying priorities and developing recommendations for the upcoming legislative session.
