At Safe Passage for Children of Minnesota, we are passionate about making a lasting impact in our community, but we can’t do it alone. Your support can truly make a difference. Whether it’s a few hours of your time or lending a hand with a special project, your involvement will contribute to improving lives and bringing positive change. Every bit of help counts and together, we can achieve so much more—your time and effort matter more than you know!
April 1st, 2025 | Event | Shining a light: A night of remembrance and reckoning for abused children
Shining a light: A night of remembrance and reckoning for abused children
This will be a 2 hour duration shift, however we are flexible and can work with your schedule. The event will take place in the evening on April 1st at the Minnesota State Capitol building.
Some tasks include but are not limited to:
- Attendance
- Welcome advocates
- Distribute candles
- Collect candles
- Set up canopy as needed
- Set up visuals (lawn signs, posters, tent, umbrellas)
- Run errands if needed
- Participation in vigil activities honoring child fatalities

April 7th, 2025 | Event | Safe Passage for Children Day at the Capitol
Safe Passage for Children Day at the Capitol
This will be a 3-4 hour duration shift, however we are flexible and can work with your schedule. The event will take place during the day on April 7th at the Minnesota State Capitol building.
Some tasks include but are not limited to:
- Attendance
- Welcome advocates
- Check registration/ add if not registered
- Distribute talking points and instructions
- Give direction/lead a group
- Run errands if needed
- Email or call legislators to encourage them to pass key legislation
- Meet with Legislators promoting Safe Passage initiatives
Meet with Legislators promoting Safe Passage initiatives
We train volunteers to advocate for children with their state Representative, state Senator, and County Commissioner. We also provide training in how the child welfare system works overall.
We schedule meetings with volunteers elected officials and provide talking points for sharing specific to each session. Volunteers are accompanied by other experienced volunteers, staff members or a volunteer advocate from Safe Passage until they feel comfortable addressing their representatives independently.

“Like” and “Share” posts from Safe Passage on social media, forward weekly blog to friends/family, to help promote Safe Passage’s initiatives
10-15 minutes/week
- Social media subscriber
- Safe Passage weekly blog subscriber
- Promotion of child abuse/child welfare issues on social media
- Respectfully represents Safe Passage in public sector

Join our volunteer team and help us at our upcoming events. These shifts will be a 2-4 hour duration shift, however we are flexible and can work with your schedule.
Some tasks include but are not limited to:
- Welcome registrants
- Help with setting up
- Help with cleanup
- Run errands as needed
